Thing #12 "Quanto freddo è Google!" (How cool is Google!)

I had a lot of fun playing around with Google! I did not know about all the features Google has to offer.  I admit, I though it was just for searching.  With Google,  I designed my own home page and personalized it with gadgets.  The gadgets I added were "Word of the Day", "Facts", "Bible Verse of the Day", and "Quotes."  I took a screen shot of the home page I designed.  I am so pleased that I know how to take a screen shot!  Designing the home page was very simple.

I also created a calendar.  I didn't make my calendar public, but I did take a screen shot of it as well.  I thought the calendar creator was easier than the calendar setting on my Mac.  I will definitely be using it from now on.  If using the public calendar setting, it would be great for posting due dates for the classroom.  I would like to try to design a classroom website through Google.  I learned about this through one of the "Website of the Day" presentations.  I haven't found where you create your own website yet, but I will be looking!  Since designing the home page and calendar were so easy, I would think designing the website would be easy too!  By using a classroom calendar or website, parents and students can be more informed.  This meets standard 6.6:  Candidates use technology to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues.  And, if students do not have access to the internet at home, a copy of the classroom calendar could easily be provided.

Using technology in the classroom is the present and the future.
