Thing # 7 (We're off to see the wizard...)
Well, I just finished exploring Flickr, and this is the photo that I tagged to "apsu23things." This is a picture of a puzzle my youngest son and I completed over Christmas break. We have never let a puzzle "beat us." But, I have to say, this puzzle was hard! The puzzle image really didn't look like the image on the box. I was glad when we finished this puzzle.
I really thought about what picture or pictures I wanted to upload to Flickr. I really didn't like the idea of anyone being able to see them. Even on my Facebook page, I have my privacy setting on "Friends Only." So, I decided to use a picture without my family in them. I have used photo sharing before with iPhoto on my Mac. I don't think Flickr is much different than what I have used before.
I don't think I would use Flickr in the classroom. If I posted pictures, I would probably post from my computer (iPhoto) directly onto a classroom blog. I think for my classroom blog, I would have a log in system to monitor who is viewing our blog. I need to figure out how to set this up. Also, if students' pictures appeared in our blog, I'm sure parental approval would be necessary. I would be interested to hear how others have used Flickr for their own personal use and in the classroom.
So, in closing, I think it is only appropriate that I quote the Wizard as he speaks to the Tin Man.....
"A heart is not measured by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others."

This made me want to watch "The Wizard of Oz" again. There are a few sites that I use (Livejournal and Ravelry) where you originally had to have pictures elsewhere on the internet to post them; you couldn't just upload directly. I used flickr for that. I upload directly now. I haven't experimented with tags yet.
ReplyDeleteI found Flickr to be kind of a pain to navigate and where in the world do these people find the time to post all these pictures?? I like your puzzle. My mom, oldest sister and I are puzzle people and you're right, you can't let them win!
