I made a graphic organizer using the Gliffy site for my APSU anatomy and physiology lab class that I teach. The topic of the lab is hormones, and as you will see from the screen shot of the hormones, there is a lot to remember. I plan to make copies of this for my students!
I also made a graphic organizer using Bubbl.us concerning membrane transport since this is the standard that I chose for my instructional technology project. Here is the screen shot of this project.
At first, I was a little frustrated with both sites because I wasn't exactly sure how to use them. However, after playing around for a little while, I became more comfortable with each one.
Creating graphic organizers for students is a researched based strategy that helps students learn. Graphic organizers aid students in keeping their information neat and organized which is helpful for all students but especially those with learning disabilities. A teacher could also create a blank graphic organizer to give to the students as a form of guided notes. The students could complete the graphic organizer during the lecture which would also assist students with ADHD to stay on task.
By creating graphic organizers online, the teacher is successfully using technology to foster learning for her students.
So, since the NCAA basketball tournament started today, I think it is only appropriate that I conclude with a quote (or two) from John Wooden (if you don't know who he was, look him up!)
"Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming." John Wooden
"Players with fight never lose a game, they just run out of time." John Wooden
